ELVES OF LINDON

Army List
See xxx for this Army

Following the heavy losses during the 2nd Age, the army of the Elves of Lindon was reduced significantly and can only have a max. of 2500 Elves (@50:1 scale that is 50 figures). However, their focus was on ship building and sailing to the West and the defence of their lands, rather than becoming involved in the assaults of Sauron.

In J.R.R. Tolkien's books, the Elven realm of Lindon possessed a significant army throughout the Second Age and into the Third Age, but its military strength had diminished considerably by the time of The Lord of the Rings. The War of the Last Alliance was a pyrrhic victory for the Elves and their population in Lindon plummeted after the death of Gil-galad. Leadership passed to Círdan the Shipwright and the realm transitioned into a peaceful haven and the primary departure point for Elves leaving Middle-earth for Valinor.

Though diminished, the Lindon army still actively participated in Northern conflicts: Angmar Wars: Lindon's forces, in coalition with Rivendell and the northern Dúnedain of Arnor, fought against the Witch-king of Angmar on several occasions, notably helping to repel the enemy from Fornost and the North Downs. Círdan led the combined Host of the West to a decisive victory in the Battle of Fornost in T.A. 1976.

By the time of The Lord of the Rings, the Elves of Lindon were a dwindling people, focused almost entirely on the task of building ships and departing for the West. Their military capacity was minimal, likely a small number of guards for the Grey Havens, rather than a standing army capable of offensive action. Ultimately, no army from Lindon marched to the aid of Gondor in the War of the Ring; their power was gone and their focus was on their final departure from Middle-Earth.
