In the Lord of the Rings books and appendices, the army of Angmar was a diverse force commanded by the Witch-king (the Lord of the Nazgûl) during his centuries-long war against the northern Dúnedain kingdom of Arnor.
The primary components of the army included, Evil Men from the region, particularly the Hill-men of Rhudaur and inhabitants of the capital, Carn Dûm, Orcs from the Misty Mountains, likely from strongholds like Mount Gram and Mount Gundabad, which were located nearby, Black Númenóreans, Men who had allied with Sauron and settled in the area even before the Witch-king's arrival.
Other fell creatures, which included various types of trolls (hill-trolls and snow-trolls), wolves and wargs.
The army was formed with the express purpose of destroying the divided Dúnedain kingdoms of Arthedain, Cardolan and Rhudaur, which it eventually accomplished with the fall of Fornost in T.A. 1974. A year later, a relief force from Gondor and the Elves utterly defeated the army of Angmar in the Battle of Fornost, though the Witch-king himself escaped to Mordor.
