LONGBEARD DWARVES

Army List
See Nick about this Army

This Dwarf clan army can have a max. of 3000 Dwarves (@50:1 scale that is 60 figures). If the Iron Hills are invaded 500 Dwarves (@50:1 a max. of 10 figures) can be added to represent the female and old and young Dwarves of the settlements.

In J.R.R. Tolkien's books, the Longbeards (Khuzdul: Sigin-tarâg) are the most prominent and important of the seven Dwarf clans, also known as Durin's Folk. The main Dwarf characters in The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, including Thorin Oakenshield and Gimli, are members of this line.

The clan was founded by Durin I the Deathless, who was one of the seven Fathers of the Dwarves and the first to awaken. He established their greatest dwelling, Khazad-dûm (later called Moria), in the Misty Mountains. Over the ages, the Longbeards also founded realms in the Grey Mountains, the Iron Hills, and Erebor (the Lonely Mountain).

The Longbeards were known for being the most far-seeing and wisest of the Dwarf clans, renowned for their skills as builders, miners, and craftsmen. They were also the most resistant to the corrupting influence of Sauron's Rings of Power.
The name "Longbeards" comes from their physical characteristic of particularly long beards, which all male Dwarves possessed from birth.

The thirteen Dwarves who embark on the Quest of Erebor with Bilbo Baggins are largely of Durin's line (Longbeards), including the leader Thorin II Oakenshield and his kinsmen such as Balin, Glóin, Fíli, and Kíli.

Gimli, son of Glóin, who joins the Fellowship of the Ring, is a key representative of the Longbeards. His father, Glóin, attends the Council of Elrond, where he recounts the history of their people and the events leading up to the War of the Ring.
