King Einion ap Mor of Ebruac besieged Corbridge in Bernaccian territory south of the Wall. However, following the timely arrival of King Morcant Bulc of Bernaccia entering the city with his Relief Army, the Ebruac force was repulsed after a tough 4-week siege.
From Week 18, King Cynfarch Oer of North Rheged besieged Stranraer in West Galwyddel in order to subdue the whole of the state. Dumfries in East Galwyddel falling into his hands in 460AD. However, as the siege commenced in Week 19, King Forga mac Dallan of Ulster arrived with his Relief Army. Sending his warships into Loch Ryan, they & the Stranraer fleet attacked the Alt Clut & Ynys Manau fleets, but suffered disaster. Separately, King Forga landed a force from two transports & marched across land to attack the North Rheged fleet warriors who were in a makeshift camp. However, he was attacked by King Cynfarch Oer, who led some of his besieging troops to intercept him. King Forga’s force was defeated & as his army fled back to the transport ships. After further fierce fighting King Forga was surrounded & finally surrendered. King Cynfrach Oer then used his captive King to force the surrender of Stranraer & by Week 21 had subdued the State to his Ally.
King Erbin ap Custennin of Dumnonia led his allied forces in an attempt to take the city of Old Sarum in Caer Gwinntguic. His attempt at bribing the Aedile Jordanes to surrender his capital city failed and he began his siege in Week 19. By that time, the Aedile’s overlord, Ambrosius of Caer Gloui had marched south to try and intercept the Dumnonian forces and caught them by the end of that week besieging the city. At the Battle of Old Sarum, after a fierce 6-hour clash, Erbin’s Companions were routed, this taking most of the army with them. The rest of the Dumnonian force retired and followed their King back to Dumnonia as night fell. Magistrate Ambrosius had relieved the siege of Old Sarum.
